Hanging Banners/Flags
I get this question asked a lot so making a tutorial will ease my mailbox a little

You've all seen these hanging from walls in various levels so here goes.

Firstly, load up the common texture set and select the nodraw texture (small purple one) and then draw out a brush which is 128 units tall, 64 units wide and has a depth of 8 units like this

Once this is complete you will need to load the base_wall texture set and located near the bottom is a texture called protobanner_still (it's looks like the top screenshot)

We'll be working in the 3d view for the next bit but it will teach you a great trick.
With this texture selected hold down CTRL+SHIFT and then right click the face of the texture in the 3Dview and you'll notice the texture has appeared on one side of the brush.

That's all there is to it really.

One bit of advice would be to make a small brush the same width and depth of the brush for the banner to hang from or it will just look like it's floating in mid air :)
