Light Part

Light
Beams
For this tutorial I have added a light entity that is
targeted to info_null.
And also a light beam texture to a cylinder (mesh) you
know to get that cool looking beam of light.
That looks like this.

So you don't know how to create a beam affect on your
lights.
No problem I'll show ya how.
First make a brush the same size as the light texture and
put it right below the light texture. Now make this brush
any length you want on the Z axis (that's up and down).
Next, while the bush is selected, go to the top view in
the 2d window, then curve menu then cylinder.
Now go to the texture window and the sfx menu and left
click on a beam texture. This one is sfx/beam_dusty2.
Now open the patch inspector (shift+S key) and hit
the fit key.
Notice in the 3d window the texture is upside down.
Instead of rotating the texture let's just rotate the
cylinder by hitting the x-x button
or the y-y
button.
There, you're done. Compile the map and take a look.
You can also apply the beam texture a
brush like this.
This time put the common/nodrawnonsolid texture on the
top and bottom of the beam brush.
It looks like this in the game.
Cool huh? And easy to do.
