Light Part 7
Ambient Light

So you have added all the light entities and texture lights for your level but it still needs just a little more light. What's a person to do? Go back and add a bunch of low value light entities. You could, but this will take a long time because it's hard to place them so that you get just the right amount of light and no little circles of light on the brushes of the world.
This is where ambient light will come in handy.
Select a world brush any one will work. You know how, right?
If not, shift and left click on one in the 2d or 3d window.
Now hit the N key. This brings up the entity window.
Pic to help out.

Now add the key ambient and a value of 5.
You can also add color to the ambient light if you want. I generally don't. Again, this depends on the map.
Don't think this is a big short cut because if you use a high number for ambient light your level will look bad as the the shadows and lighting get washed away.
This is only used to help add just a little light.
There you go. Lighting Tutorial all done for now. I may add more later when I learn more about it.
I hope this helped you out some.
Take a minute and email me if there's a tutorial that you would like to see. Email is at bottom of every page.

Now go light up your level........
