Patch-Mesh 101
Simple Mesh Trim
Now let's build the trim mesh
for the 90 degree hallway that we started in page 2.
Create a structure at the bottom out of three separate brushes which should look like this.

3d View |
Next build a new brush in
front of the caulked brush
(remember always caulk
behind meshes.
Next go to the x or y view so you are looking at the
brush end on just like in the 3d pic above.
Now that you are looking at it go to your Curve menu
then Simple Patch Mesh.
A little window will pop open asking width and height.
Type in 9 for a width or use the little arrow thingy and
select 9.
This will give us enough control points to bend this
mesh around three corners.
Now go to the XY top view and hit the V key to
turn on vertex control points.
If the control points are off the grid hit ctrl-G to
snap them in place.
Then hit the V key twice to turn them off then back on.
Now its time to start moving them.
The green points move
to the corners and the magenta in middle of the
corners.
Then final mesh should look like this.
Notice I built another mesh for the other side.
Once you have the meshes in place all that's left is to
align the texture.
To do this select one of the meshes.
The hit the shift-S to open the Patch properties
window
Now move the texture up or down using the horizontal
shift.
If you need to, add a zero to the number value like this
0.005 for the extra fine moves
You may also need to rotate the texture.
The finished look should look like this.
That's really easy to do, isn't it.
On the next page we are going to make a simple patch
mesh floor.
And I think there will be some water as well...
