Advanced Terrain
I read the other terrain tutorial on this site and realized it wasn't very advanced, though simple. I thought that the more advanced users out there would like an more advanced way to make terrain so I made a tutorial. I assume that the readers of this tutorial know how curves work, otherwise I strongly recommend you learn that first.

First you need to create a brush which would preferably be 384 W * 384 H, and 8 units thick.

While your brush is selected, Goto "Simple Patch Mesh..." in the curve menu (Curve|Simple patch mess...) As you'll notice your brush as transformed into an flat "curve", I would suggest putting the height and width to 5 but you can mess around with if needed

When you have finished this, select the mesh and hit V, this will allow you to drag the mesh's vertices.

Go into the 3D-view and click on a point, it turns blue. Switch to XZ Front-view and try moving the selected point up and down. Do the same to the other points so you gets a terrain looking surface. Go into the Surface Inspector (short key S) and press Natural to make the texture fit like it should

Switch between your front and side views dragging the little dots around until you reach the desired effect you wish to create.
When you feel satisfied with it, select the mesh and apply the texture organics/grass3 to it.

*you want the patch in the ceiling you must Invert the patch so you can see it from underneath. Go into the Curve menu again and select Matrix\Invert and it should be fixed*

After this make a new brush and place it underneath the mesh. Then adjust the height so parts of the mesh will be covered, but not the entire mesh. Give the brush the texture liquids/clear_ripple1.

Add all the other necessary things (walls, sky, startposition etc..) and compile your map.

Enjoy the sight.
