Gauntlet

Here's the short story: You wack people with it in melee combat.

Machine Gun

machinegun.gif (9211 bytes)

This is your default weapon when you spawn into the game.   It does about the same amount of damage as the Quake II machine gun with basically the same properties.

Super Shotgun

Essentially the same as it always has been with a couple minor changes.  The firing rate is a little slower than Quake and the spread on the weapon isn't as dramatic compared to Quake II.

Grenade Launcher

Nothing too complicated to explain here.   Just like the one you find in Quake and Quake II with a couple minor changes.

Rocket Launcher

rocketlauncher.gif (6750 bytes)

The Rocket Launcher is exactly the same as the Quake/Quake II Rocket Launcher but the speed has been changed.  The speed and damage of the Rocket Launcher now resides somewhere between that of Quake and Quake II.    Rocket jumping will work as in Quake/Quake II, but the height will vary depending on what class of character you choose.

BFG
Nothing like any other BFG you've ever seen.    You actually have to have aim with this weapon, although it still turns out the be the ultimate weapon again.   More information as soon as the weapon is finalized by id Software.

 Rail Gun

railgun.gif (12596 bytes)

The Rail Gun is being directly ported from Quake II with minor changes.  The firing rate is near to that of Quake II.   Also, the rail leaves an explosion on whatever it hits, be it a person or a wall.   No more wondering if it actually hit the player.
You'll also be able to customize the inner trail color as well as the outer spiral trail.   Now you'll know who's shooting who across those wide open arenas.

Plasma Gun

plasmarifle.gif (9147 bytes)

Just like the Plasma Gun in Doom.    Remember how it restricted your field of view when you were firing it?   It hasn't changed in that aspect. It still fires blue plasma, which apparently looks cool when firing it with all its lighting effects.  The plasma now has a splash damage property, so be careful when in close quarters fighting.

Lighting Gun

lighting1.gif (23210 bytes)

The signature weapon of Quake returns.   Except, now it has a very interesting property.  When you wave the weapon over an area, you do damage to that entire area. This bad weapon makes it daybeu in the new q3test as of 7/16/99
