Bills Pond Winter Pump Box

This is the home made pump box for my pond. I started with a 12 gallon Rubbermaid box. Drilled a 1 inch hole in one end so my small pump outlet could go thru the box. I also added activated carbon and ammonia crystals to a mesh bag this went in front of the pump inlet area. Next I added some of the scrubber pads from my bio filter then I added some egg crate and more scrubber pads on top of that. To finish the box off I drilled a bunch of 1/4 inch holes in the end and some on the top lid. I also notched out the end so the cord could go thru.
After trying to sink this I had to add screws to the lid as it popped off several times. This pump will go all winter and my floating deicer will be on surface above the pump box.
Here a few pics of the pump box.

Here is a shot of it running I will be sinking it deeper soon I have to pick up a piece of pipe to extend the water exit up towards the surface more. As you can see I still have more rock that is needed to the pond to cover up some more of the rubber and hide homemade skimmer box.
